Sustainability, Recycling and Green Innovation Solutions

Serving residential and commercial customers, Shelley's Septic Tanks provides biosolid management services. Family and locally owned, our focus is to keep central Florida green. If you're unsure where the waste goes when you flush your toilet, we're here to tell you!

For some, wastewater goes to a regional wastewater treatment center plant. For others, it goes into a septic tank or drain field. Some businesses or mobile home parks have package plants or other disposal systems.

Wherever the wastewater goes, Shelley's Septic Tanks is responsible for it. With landfills filling up, we have developed an economical way to recycle waste into soil sediment, turning a negative environmental impact into a positive one while reducing the carbon footprint that comes from a growing population.

With more than 30 years of experience, we research alternative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Barbara and David Shelley have made it their career to turn waste into safe, state-certified fertilizer that growers love while reducing waste that's sent to landfills. To learn more, call us at (407) 889-8042.

Get to Know the Process

Our current system is promoted by state regulators and mixes cake - or de-watered waste from wastewater treatment facilities and septic system waste - with mineral lime. The lime mineral heats the cake product to 160 degrees killing all pathogens and while preventing vector attraction.

Once the treatment process is done, the material is classified as a commercial-grade fertilizer by the state of Florida.  The fertilizer is mixed with wood chips and other organic matters and left to sit for a short time in the windows at Shelley’s environmental property. The fertilizer mixture is screened through large machines separating large wood chip material.

The remaining rich and earth-friendly fertilizer product is used by groves, nurseries, sod farms and hay farmers all over the state.
